In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, melted butter, and maple syrup. Spread evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle walnuts over the sugar mixture. Arrange bread slices in a single layer.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange zest, juice, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and eggs. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate for a least one hour, or overnight.
Remove dish from refrigerator and preheat oven to 350°. Bake for 25 – 30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. - 1 cup packed brown sugar
