Combine beer and onions in a large pot; bring to a boil. Add the seasonings and bratwurst. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Remove brats and drain on paper toweling.
Heat grill to medium high. Cook for 8 – 9 minutes until nicely browned. Place brats in buns and top with sauerkraut and mustard if desired.
- 3 (12-oz) bottles or cans of beer
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 ½ teaspoons red pepper flakes
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 8 bratwurst, uncooked
- 8 Village Hearth Wheat Buns
- Sauerkraut (optional)
- Spicy brown mustard (optional)
