Ingredients:
  • 5 slices Country Hearth Apple Cinnamon Bread
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter, divided
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 10″ tube pan. Cut bread slices into small cubes. Mix milk with bread crumbs and set aside. Arrange apple slices in bottom of tube pan. In a small saucepan, melt butter, then add brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Cook until bubbly and sugar is dissolved. Pour over apples. Using a hand mixer, beat together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and baking powder. Mix in flour, then bread and milk mixture. Pour over apple / sugar mixture and bake for 35 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes. Run a knife around the edge and invert onto a serving plate. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
